I had a great time today with a customer and his son from the Dallas area, they bought a new boat and I got to help them learn the waters down here. It is sure nice to sit back and not have to worry about everything. They did  a great job of catching fish, only problem their fish box is built in the boat and ran over so we came in early. Thanks guys for a great day and hope you enjoyed the fish on the grill tonight.

I had a great time today with a couple of kids, brother and sister, from Dallas and their uncle. The day was beautiful, the wind came up for a hour or so and laid back down. They did a great job of learning to cast and hooking fish. Thanks folks for a great day and look forward to doing it again.

Well spring break is here and the weather, well it rains Saturday and Sunday, we needed it, today was 50 and predicted to get to 70, but the sun didn’t come out till we got off the water. Fished a dad and son, and his neighbor and her son, but they hung in there and we had a great time, and they took home a couple of nice bags of fish. Sorry no pics, but thanks folks for a great day and look forward to doing it again. Enjoy your spring break guys.

Another great day on the water with 3 super nice folks from Iowa, the young lady had fished with me before but it had been 5 years ago. The weather man was calling for wind but they had great luck and it didn’t blow until we were off the water. We have had several days of 20 + mph winds, but today it just was under 10 mph, but it couldn’t make up it’s mind which way it wanted to come from. They did  a great job of catching, lots of small fish, and some really nice ones to take home. Thanks folks for a great day and look forward to doing it again.

I had a great time today with 3 guys from the Houston area, it was a little breezy, but not too bad. The bite was a little slow but they did a great job of hanging in there and we were able to get their limits by 12:30. Thanks guys for a great time and hope to have you back again soon.

February 20, 2017

The day started out with a light rain about 8 am, so we waited 30 minutes to see if it going to heavier or not. The water is back up with the south wind, the first stops were where I had been catching reds for the last month, no reds but lots of small trout. So we headed to look for some trout and found more small ones, about 1130 with only 2 fish in the box, I am getting nervous. We have gone thru 2 quarts of shrimp and have caught lots of fish but not keepers. We head back to the bait stand for more bait, totally changed where we fished and luck was with us! They did a great job of catching some really nice fish. Thanks guys for a great day and look forward to doing it again soon.

February 16, 2017

The morning started out a little cool, 44 degrees at 5 am, but it warmed up to the low 70’s by noon, clear skies, with light north wind, after 2 days of 30 mph + wind, today was god sent day. A friend, his buddy from New Mexico, and I headed out to see if the fish were hungry and luck was with us and we found them hungry. First stop we started with a nice keeper red then lots of short reds, and finally the keepers came in and we got our limit. We still had a hour or so before one of the guys had to go to the dentist, so we went look for some trout and found a few keepers and lots of small ones to keep us busy. The guy from New Mexico got his largest red ever today and the biggest of the day, caught a grand slam, red, trout, and flounder, Way to go Mike ( his name is Mike too). Thanks guys for a great time and look forward to doing it again.

February 8 and 9, 2017

Welcome to February in south Texas, Tuesday was 90 degrees, with light southwest wind, Chamber of Commerce day, but fishing was tough for trout. First cast got a good hard hit and nothing, kept moving, looking for bait, found lots of mullet, large schools of pony to horse size, but nothing.  The tide was falling when we started and it died, finally about 12:30 we found some but had 10 to 1 throw back to a keeper at least. But it was still a great day on the water. The plan for the day changed as it was foggy until noon, so we stayed close.

Wednesday morning no fog, low 50’s with north wind 20 + mph.  We found a place that was partially out of high winds, first stop was lots of rat reds, next stop same, and then the next stop was still rats but had some nice keepers mixed in. By the time we had our limit we had caught probably 40 + reds and we headed back to the dock.

Thanks folks for a great 2 days, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate, the fishing is still good.
